The development employs Active Design and Trauma-informed Design principles to improve the social, physical, and mental wellbeing of occupants. The building also includes biophilic elements like outdoor spaces and green walls, as well as a rooftop community garden that will provide healthy food access for the neighborhood. Residential amenities include a computer room, a laundry room, and a community room, each with an adjacent landscaped terrace.
Located at the busy intersection of Strauss Street and East New York Avenue, The Rise emphasizes community with urban design considerations such as large glass storefronts, recessed, well-lit, pedestrian and bike-friendly entrances that facilitate deep sidewalks, and a welcoming street front. Brick relief patterns add texture and variation to the exterior, and three main volumes clad in a dark gray brick and capped with residential amenity terraces “step up” along the front façade. As a physical representation of the social impact within the building, those bays inspired the name – The Rise.
