The second phase of a larger residential development in the Willowbrook area of Staten Island, Seaview Cluster C provides 161 affordable apartments (studios and one-bedrooms) to seniors aged 62 and older. The design for this Douglaston Development project brings light into the building with a large window wall spanning all five stories in the common spaces. From the lobby, which is filled with natural light, residents can enjoy expansive views of the wooded property behind the site. The elevator lobby at each floor opens to spacious lounges and windows at the front and rear facades. Each apartment is also designed with large windows providing natural light to the living rooms and bedrooms.
There is a patio space for residents facing the woods as well as parking and bike storage. There is also an office for The JCC of Staten Island which provides social services on-site for residents and help with supports such as Medicare/Medicaid enrollment, tax exemption benefits, HRA services, advocacy, and mental health and medical referrals.
Residents were selected to live in the complex through the City’s housing lottery process.
