A new, mixed-use affordable housing development on a prominent site in Newburgh, NY, Mid-Broadway brings new pedestrian and economic activity to the city. The site is characterized by existing three-story multifamily residential buildings, an armory across Broadway, and a mid-20th century building where the Newburgh DMV operates.
The development will contain 91 affordable family housing units in a mix of studios, one-, two- and three-bedroom units. The ground floor will contain program staff offices, commercial space, a laundry room with access to outdoor seating and a children’s play area, a mail room and the lobby, as well as a multi-purpose room for residents.
The building will include numerous green initiatives including a photovoltaic panel system at the main roof, sun-shading devices, a high-efficiency HVAC system and is designed as a LEED for Homes certified project. The Project will also apply for the NYSERDA Multifamily Building Performance Program for New Construction, incorporating at least 20 % energy reduction and energy efficiency options into the building’s design to fulfill the ENERGY STAR guidelines and to the LEED for Homes Mid-rise Certification Program with the U.S. Green Building Council.
