22 Tarrytown Road, located in the Town of Greenburgh, NY is a LEED Certified, 28-unit workforce family development with a community room, laundry facility, green roof and parking. The massing of the building is articulated in a series of vertical volumes and the combination of rainscreen façade materials breaks up the horizontal nature of the 3-story building.
The design brings considerable amounts of daylight into the apartments with large windows, and the east and west exposures are controlled by sun shade elements such as balconies, wood shutters and awnings. 22 Tarrytown Road is generously landscaped with native trees and plants creating natural buffers along all the property lines and providing shade to the building and parking areas.
The development includes a 6,000 square foot green roof to limit the amount of peak storm water runoff into the sewer system and to improve the quality of water that flows into nearby rivers and streams. The green roof also improves the microclimate, reduces dust and smog levels and offers a habitat for flora and fauna.
Certified at the LEED for Homes Silver level, 22 Tarrytown Road also complies with Enterprise Green Communities criteria.
