The Community Builders Break Ground on 188 Warburton Avenue, Phase II of a multiphase urban redevelopment of Cottage Place Gardens in Yonkers, NY
Ground was broken Monday, December 15, 2014 on a new, mixed-use, mixed-income multi-family housing development in Yonkers, NY. Developed by The Community Builders, Inc. and in partnership with the Municipal Housing Authority of the City of Yonkers (MHACY), and designed by Magnusson Architecture and Planning PC (MAP), 188 Warburton Avenue will provide 51 units of affordable housing.
This proposed development will require demolishing two existing MHACY buildings and replacing them with a newly constructed 51 unit affordable housing building. Including 25 one-bedroom and 20 two-bedroom, as well as 6 three-bedroom.
The building is designed with sensitivity to the neighborhood context with setbacks, roof lines and materials which relate to the surrounding buildings. The building massing integrates the topography of the site near the Hudson River with six stories along Warburton Avenue and stepping down to three stories along Willow Place. The building’s scale will fit seamlessly within the two- and three-story adjacent properties. To reinforce the scale along Willow Place, the new building will include two-story town-house style apartments.
