Factory Transforming into Workforce Housing

News 12 Westchester

A former factory in Middletown is being rehabbed into workforce housing.

Groundbreaking at “The Mill” was held today at 34 Mill St. The dilapidated, three-story building hasn’t been used in years and is being turned into a 42-unit, affordable housing complex for people enrolled in a workforce training program.

Middletown Mayor Joseph Destefano said today he fully supports the unique project. “This is meant to train people to work , give them opportunities to work, and there are some opportunities here.”

The $15 million project is sponsored by a number of public and private groups and is expected to be up and running by next year.
