Community Builders and MAP break ground on 51-unit affordable housing development in Yonkers

New York Real Estate Journal

Ground was broken on a new, mixed-use, mixed-income multifamily housing development. Developed by The Community Builders, Inc. and in partnership with the Municipal Housing Authority of the City of Yonkers (MHACY), and designed by Magnusson Architecture and Planning PC (MAP), 188 Warburton Ave. will provide 51 units of affordable housing.

The building design will be articulated in a manner of sensitivity to the neighborhood context with setbacks, roof lines and materials which relate to the surrounding buildings. The building massing integrates the topography of the site near the Hudson River with six stories along Warburton Ave. and stepping down to three stories along Willow Place. The building’s scale will fit within the two and three-story adjacent properties. To reinforce the scale along Willow Place, the new building will include two-story town-house style apartments.

This proposed development will require demolishing two existing MHACY buildings and replacing them with a newly constructed 55,000 s/f affordable housing building. The range of residential units consists of 25 one-bedroom and 20 two-bedroom, as well as six three-bedroom town-house style duplexes.
