Magnus Magnusson, AIA, LEED AP
Founding Principal
Magnus Magnusson is a community development expert who has designed distinctive and award-winning projects throughout New York City and the Hudson Valley. He founded Magnusson Architecture and Planning and currently serves as its managing principal. In this capacity, he provides strategic vision for the firm and guides talented teams of architects and planners on mixed-use and affordable housing developments, state-of-the-art community projects, healthcare facilities, and large-scale planning projects.
Among Mr. Magnusson’s noteworthy accomplishments are Melrose Commons in the Bronx; the groundbreaking, mixed-income Atlantic Terrace in Brooklyn; and the Rheingold Gardens Urban Renewal Project in Brooklyn. His projects have been featured in multiple publications, including the New York Times, and have won prestigious design awards from the New York and Westchester + Hudson Valley Chapters of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Boston Society of Architects, the Municipal Arts Society, and New York State Homes and Community Renewal.
Mr. Magnusson frequently lectures and writes about issues of housing, planning, environmental design, and innovative design solutions. He is an active member of the AIA and has served as Chairman of the New York Chapter’s Housing Committee. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture from City College of New York and a Master of Architectural Technology from Columbia University.
